StepArc Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 18, 2026

StepArc ("StepArc", "we", "us", or "our") is an iOS fitness app for walking-based training, foot resilience tracking, load management, and virtual mountain progress. This Privacy Policy explains what information StepArc processes, how it is used, and the choices you have.

StepArc is not a medical device and does not provide medical diagnosis or treatment.

StepArc V1 has no StepArc account, cloud backend, advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or developer-operated telemetry endpoint. For Apple's App Store privacy label, the V1 answer is No, we do not collect data from this app. Ordinary app use does not transmit your health or training data to a StepArc server. Optional, user-initiated email and export actions are described below.

Information Stored and Processed on Your Device

Information you enter in the app

StepArc may store information you provide, including:

• First name or display name
• Onboarding segment, such as foot discomfort, knee discomfort, running discomfort, standing all day, or general fitness
• Balance hold time, heel raise count, walking endurance, discomfort level, and optional navicular drop measurement
• Training sessions, readiness checks, discomfort log entries, footwear logs, achievements, and mountain progress
• Weekly promise, notification preferences, and a capped journal of coarse app interactions such as setting a weekly goal or completing a session

This information is used to personalize StepArc, calculate your Arc Score, track progress, adapt general fitness guidance, and show trends over time.

On-device app interaction journal

StepArc keeps a capped on-device journal of coarse product interactions, such as completing onboarding, setting a weekly promise, choosing a StepArc action, or completing a session. This journal does not contain Apple Health values, discomfort values, free-text notes, names, or inferred health states. It is not transmitted to StepArc during ordinary use.

The journal is included only when you explicitly create and share your JSON export. Resetting StepArc deletes it with the rest of your local preferences.

HealthKit information

With your permission, StepArc reads limited Apple Health data:

• Step count
• Walking and running distance
• Apple stand time
• Flights climbed, converted into an approximate climb estimate for display
• Walking and hiking workout summaries, including recorded duration and distance where available
• Walking gait metrics where available, including step length, walking speed, walking asymmetry, double-support percentage, and Apple Walking Steadiness

During a guided walk, StepArc may use Apple's on-device Motion & Fitness service to estimate distance across active walking intervals. Paused time is excluded. You can still complete and save a StepArc walk when Motion & Fitness access, distance hardware, or a distance result is unavailable.

If you separately allow write access, StepArc can save the performed duration and available motion-estimated distance for a guided walk as a walking workout in Apple Health.

StepArc uses HealthKit data only for app functionality, including walking load, weekly progression, intentional-activity summaries, walking-trend display, and guided-walk history. Flights climbed are displayed as estimated activity context and do not add to virtual expedition progress. Virtual expedition ascent is a StepArc training reward based on performed active time; it is not measured real-world elevation and is not supplied or validated by Apple Health. StepArc does not sell HealthKit data, use HealthKit data for advertising, or share HealthKit data with affiliates or other third parties for marketing.

You can grant, deny, or revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in the Apple Health app or iOS Settings.

Purchase information

StepArc is currently launching as a free app and does not process in-app purchases or subscriptions.

If StepArc adds subscriptions in the future, purchase-related information will be handled by Apple and any subscription service described in an updated Privacy Policy before those features launch. Payment card information is handled by Apple; StepArc does not receive or store your payment card number.

Device and diagnostics information

StepArc may use Apple-provided system logs and crash diagnostics available through Apple developer tools to diagnose app reliability issues. These diagnostics may include device model, operating system version, app version, and crash details. StepArc does not send app telemetry to a developer-operated server, and locally retained MetricKit reports are not included in the ordinary data export.

If you choose to send feedback or contact support, your email provider and StepArc may receive the message, your email address, and any app context included in the email draft. This email is user-initiated. Health and progress diagnostics are off by default, listed for review, and included only if you opt in. Review the draft and remove information you do not want to send before sending it.

How We Use Information

StepArc uses information to:

• Create and personalize your profile
• Calculate and display Arc Score and related trends
• Track walking load, training progress, comfort trends, and mountain progress
• Provide reminders and notifications you choose to enable
• Improve app reliability and debug technical issues
• Show your weekly promise and help evaluate product flow only when you explicitly share an export
• Comply with legal, safety, and App Store obligations

Where Information Is Stored

Most StepArc training and health-related information is stored locally on your device using Apple's local storage frameworks. At this stage, StepArc does not provide user accounts or cloud sync.

StepArc does not currently provide user accounts, cloud sync, or paid feature unlocks.

StepArc shares limited on-device state through an Apple App Group so its widgets, Live Activities, and app actions can show or route StepArc information. This App Group data remains available only to StepArc and its bundled extensions on your device and is not used for tracking.

StepArc can create a human-readable JSON export on your device. Nothing is sent to a StepArc server. The file leaves your device only if you tap the share action and choose a destination, and that destination's privacy practices then apply.

If StepArc adds account sync, AI coaching, or cloud backup in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated before those features transmit additional personal or health-related information off your device.

Sharing

StepArc does not sell your personal information.

StepArc may share limited information with:

• Apple, for HealthKit permission controls, App Store distribution, and platform services
• Your email provider and StepArc's support-mail provider when you choose to send feedback or a support request
• Service providers who help operate, secure, or debug the app, only as needed for those services
• Legal or safety authorities if required by law or necessary to protect users, StepArc, or others

StepArc may include links or recommendations for footwear, orthotics, or related products. If affiliate links are added or used, clicking those links may take you to a third-party site with its own privacy practices. StepArc does not share HealthKit data with affiliate partners.

StepArc does not use health, fitness, pain, or HealthKit information for advertising, cross-app tracking, data broker sales, or marketing data mining.

Security and Breach Notice

StepArc is designed to keep most health-related app data on your device. If we learn of unauthorized access to unsecured personal health information that requires notice under applicable law, including the FTC Health Breach Notification Rule where applicable, we will provide required notices to affected users, regulators, and other parties as required.

Health and Safety

StepArc is designed for general fitness and education. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, physical therapy, or emergency care. If you have severe pain, worsening symptoms, swelling, numbness, inability to bear weight, or other concerning symptoms, seek professional medical advice.

Your Choices

You can:

• Stop using StepArc at any time
• Review and export a local JSON copy of your StepArc data from Settings
• Reset your local StepArc records and preferences from Settings
• Delete app data by deleting the app from your device
• Revoke HealthKit access in the Apple Health app or iOS Settings
• Disable notifications in iOS Settings
• Review and edit an email draft before sending feedback or support information
• Contact us to ask privacy questions

Because StepArc currently stores most app data locally on your device, using Reset or deleting the app may permanently delete local StepArc data unless Apple or iOS has retained a device backup.

Children's Privacy

StepArc is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

International Users

If you use StepArc outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where Apple or other service providers operate.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as StepArc changes. If changes are material, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or through the App Store.
